'Told You So' - DIRECTOR's CUT

And, here's the director's cut of 'Told You So', our 2012 48 HFP entry.
We'll submit this out to some festivals shortly to see if it'll get picked up anywhere. Check back soon!

Well, we got into the final showing group of the Houston 48 Hour Film Project for 2012. 'Told You So' will screen again at 930pm at the Studio Movie Grill - Houston City Centre as part of the last 10 films in the Best Of screenings for 2012.

Got Some Love From the Houston Press!

The first film screened during last night's showcase was called Told You So and was created by a company called 4th Collective. The film was described as a dark comedy, but it could have also fallen into the mockumentary realm. It was about an underground "corn holing" competition, which I learned is the name to describe that game, usually found at elementary school carnivals, where kids throw bean bags into holes cut into wooden slats. I was impressed. It was hilarious and looked incredibly professional. Apparently 4th Collective know how to make a 48 hour film; they were the Houston winners in 2009.

Unfortunately screening them first set the bar fairly high, making it difficult for some of the other films to compete, but there were a few golden moments.

Here's the movie. We had the premier last Wednesday in Group C at the Houston 48 HFP screenings at the Studio Movie Grill. We picked up an honorable mention for audience award this year. Here's hoping we get the invite to the best of's.

Turned In, and Totally Recovered

Sunday night, we headed over to JAX Grill on Shepherd in Houston for the 48 hour Film project completion. I had Izzy on my arm, so unfortunately no pics, but I'm hoping to get something from the rest of the team soon to post up here.

Weekend closing thoughts:
-Really wish we would have been able to get some more footage in the flick. There was really just so much funny stuff, but it did not push the story along, it was just funny for the sake of being funny.
-Maybe we will get a chance to do an extended cut for festival submissions if we think its funny enough. There is some pretty raunchy stuff in there, so who knows whether fests will pick it up or not.
-We simplified everything by having one location to shoot at.
-Unfortunately, that location was a crack house.
-Fortunately, everyone was such a freaking good sport about it, that we ended up with some great footage
